GTA Vice City Remaster Is Coming To PlayStation Now, Per Leak

Several players have reported about an early ad on the PS Store, revealing that Vice City Definitive Edition could be coming to PlayStation Now.

According to an early advertisement on the PlayStation Store, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City could be coming to Sony's game streaming service PlayStation Now for a limited time. To make the Grand Theft Auto remastered collection even more accessible to the general public, Rockstar announced prior to release that individual games from the trilogy would be coming to Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Now over time, with the remastered version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas being the first title to launch on Xbox Game Pass the day the collection officially released. Additionally, Grand Theft Auto III remastered became available as a part of Sony’s PlayStation Now for the PlayStation 4 on December 7 almost a month after the GTA trilogy was released, allowing both console players to easily access a title from the anticipated collection.

The long-anticipated GTA trilogy remaster officially launched last year in November across consoles and PC a month after its initial stirring announcement in October. The remastered collection allows modern audiences to experience Rockstar's universally acclaimed PS2-era classics upgraded with enhancements and improvements. Unfortunately, the GTA trilogy has seen backlash from fans due to a large variety of game-breaking bugs and performance issues, which was compounded by the Rockstar Games Launcher crashing shortly following the remastered trilogy's release. Despite its technical issues, Rockstar Games has promised to release updates over time to correct many of the difficulties players are having, and the remastered collection is no longer in a broken state as it was during its disastrous launch.

As reported by VGC, numerous PlayStation users are claiming to have seen an advertisement on the PSN Store that reveals that the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - The Definitive Edition could be coming to PlayStation Now for a limited time until May 2, 2022. Posted on Twitter, user billyallen88 shared a screenshot of what appears to be a PlayStation Store advertisement of the Vice City remaster coming to the PlayStation Now streaming service with the caption stating that it would last until May 2, 2022. Similarly, another user caught the advertisement with a clearer screenshot on the Portuguese store with the same date, possibly confirming that the accidental leak is real and could be imminent.

Released in 2002, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City takes the series to the tropical location of Vice City, based in Miami, Florida during the 1980s. Although not a massive visual leap from its predecessor, the title introduces many new elements to the series and went on to receive critical acclaim for its music, gameplay, story, and its open-world, which hosted a handful of memorable characters and iconic moments. While the GTA trilogy remaster is maligned for its numerous issues, the Vice City remaster is considered the best game in the remastered collection based on visuals and performance.

The fact that the advertisements appeared on the PlayStation Store could mean that the title is coming to PlayStation Now sooner than expected. Rockstar Games has yet to confirm if the leak is true. However, given that Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is the next entry in the series following Grand Theft Auto III, it seems to make sense that Vice City could be coming to the PS Now.
