GTA Online Update News Spammed With #SaveRedDeadOnline Protests

 The ongoing #SaveRedDeadOnline social media protests have crashed Rockstar Games' latest update-related news post for Grand Theft Auto Online.

Fans are spamming the latest update-related news post for Grand Theft Auto Online with #SaveRedDeadOnline protests. The fan-organized 'Save Red Dead Online' campaign kicked into high gear earlier this year after the official Rockstar Games Twitter account invited players to start the new year with bonuses attached to existing content. After months without a content update of consequence, users began expressing their frustration with the state of things, specifically by demanding better in-game support from the studio.

Rockstar's support for Red Dead Online has long paled in comparison to the level of attention GTA Online receives. While the much older online suite added no less than two major content updates in the last year - Los Santos Tuners and The Contract - Red Dead Online faithful were only treated to the summer 2021 Title Update, Blood Money. The summer content introduced new Free Roam missions, Crime Contracts, and Opportunities; however, many viewed these additions as little more than half-steps compared to GTA Online's more robust offerings. Now the 'Save Red Dead Online' brigade is once more trying to apply a bit of pressure.

Earlier today, January 20, Rockstar Games shared new weekly update details for Grand Theft Auto Online on its official Twitter account. A fair few of the comments remain on topic, or ask about the long-rumored Grand Theft Auto 6, yet a good chunk of the responses come from those concerned about the state of Red Dead Online. It seems most simply want the studio to communicate its plans for the Wild West-set online suite, preferably by releasing something along the lines of a roadmap. Many other responses, however, simply feature the #SaveRedDeadOnline hashtag, as demonstrated in the following screenshot.

It would appear the frustration about Red Dead Online's lack of noteworthy content has yet to cease. Whether or not the crew at Rockstar Games has taken notice remains to be seen, though. As some Twitter users noted in their replies to the above GTA Online post, the studio isn't doing the best job of communicating with the Red Dead Online player base.

Red Dead Online's community is evidently filled with a passionate bunch, all of whom want to ensure their multiplayer game of choice isn't headed for an early grave. In the end, though, that much will be left up to Rockstar.
